TOKU GALLERY in Nanjing

Nin Studio announces its arrival in China with Dream Theater, a special presentation at TOKU Gallery in Shanghai from April 3- April 6 Marking the brand’s first major activation in China, the project introduces audiences to Nin Studio’s evolving dialogue between clothing, ritual, and collective experience.

Originally conceived as the SS26 collection, Dream Theater transforms the language of dreams into spatial and material form. The collection explores the tension between concealment and revelation through layered textiles, sculptural silhouettes, and garments that blur the line between costume and vessel. Inspired by symbolic dream motifs, the work considers how dreams shape not only individual identity but shared cultural imagination.

For its Shanghai presentation, Dream Theater expands beyond the runway into an immersive gallery environment. The white cube is transformed into a living altar — a contemplative yet activated space where garments are positioned not simply as products, but as offerings. Suspended, preserved, or embedded within the architecture of the room, the pieces create a shifting field of presence.

Within this environment, the altar operates as a participatory portal — a threshold developed across body, object, and audience. The gallery becomes a site of collective witnessing, where viewers are not passive observers but contributors to an unfolding atmosphere of reflection and exchange. The space invites subtle interaction, allowing the energy of the room to accumulate and transform over time. In this way, the white cube moves from neutrality to resonance — from container to conduit.

Central to SS26 is Nin Studio’s evolving upcycling system — an initiative that reimagines the brand’s own archive and existing garments as fertile ground for renewal. By transforming what already exists, Nin Studio challenges the conventional fashion calendar and advances a model rooted in material responsibility, continuity, and regeneration.

Shanghai represents a significant step in Nin Studio’s global expansion. The presentation reflects the studio’s commitment to cross-cultural dialogue and to cultivating community-driven spaces where fashion operates as ritual, story, and collective inquiry. With a growing international presence spanning Australia, Latin America, and now China, Nin Studio continues to explore how clothing can function as a site of transformation — intimate yet communal, poetic yet pragmatic.

Dream Theater in Shanghai invites audiences into a rehearsal for becoming: a space where garments hold memory, the altar becomes portal, and fashion reclaims its ceremonial power within contemporary culture.
